Msgr. Newman Council # 4665

Monsignor Newman Council [4665] was chartered September 15, 1958 and named to honor the beloved Msgr. Joseph A. Newman , a long time leader in the Shively, KY, community. In the beginning, Council 4665 served the parishes of St. Helen, St. Denis, St. Paul, St. Lawrence and St. Mathias. Robert Huter was the first Grand Knight and Fr. Bernard Spoelker, of St Helen, was the first Chaplain. Initially, meetings were held in St. Helen's Parish until the Council moved to the 1695 Herbert Ave. Where we remained until September 2010 when Past Grand Knight John Brown started the move of the Council to its present "home" located at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Monsignor Newman Council works closely with the parishes of the community in the South/Southwestern part of Jefferson County, KY, providing funds for various community projects, and our Brother Knights are active participants in their parishes, scouting, community projects, etc
